Amsterdam Dance Event

Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) has a lot going for it! Every October the city hosts 400,000 visitors attending an incredible multi venue music festival and conference from Wednesday to Sunday. There are so many parties, speakers, panels and equipment demos that it is physically impossible to catch everything.

There is also networking. Lots of networking! It’s not unusual for people from London to arrange meetings during ADE that they could have had back in their home city. This may seem pointless (and sometimes is), but one cannot discount the influence such an open minded country and city can have upon people.

My own experiences have been magical each year. From attending back in 2015 with Normski with Hoxton FM press passes and interviewing Marshall Jefferson, Seth Troxler and grabbing a legendary shout out on the street from the Martinez Brothers through to livestreaming DJs playing live from Zwarte Goud record shop in 2019. That year was particularly ground breaking for me as I also filmed the Zwarte Goud team playing in the Resident Advisor charity 6 aside football tournament at De School.

Within 5 minutes I had captured an incredible solo goal, taken a ball flush to the face (whilst admiring my handy work) and landed myself a job filming the RA closing party (after their social media manager checked I was ok and then also admired my work).

Below is what I captured from the party and has led me on to a lot of other music videography opportunities since. I particularly liked the freedom I was given to capture Kerri Chandler playing keys live over his DJ set!

 I’m guessing a few of you might also like to see the goal that landed me the job. I’ve also added that below and I have to say if I hadn’t filmed it with an Insta360 camera I might never have got half the opportunities that come my way in videography.
